I can't say it doesn't sting a little.
Every time I've brought out a great idea ... rather than meet me with discussion, ideas for collaboration, or even just a conversation, industry tries to go one better. So in 2020 I came up with @thepubwhisperer and in 2024 the GLASS EMPTY Suicide Prevention Signal and training method for pub staff. Now I get this image on my instagram account with @lifelineaustralia trying to go one better. Yeah, I admit that prevention IS better than cure and IF you're an alcoholic, someone dependant solely on alcohol to help you get through your days, then this is great: you can heal your life and start over. However, my GLASS EMPTY Signal is one of many original ideas that I've brought into the world, only to receive copy cats and no conversation around collaborating. And that, ladies & gent, is what makes life hard. We don't look at people with great ideas and think "how can I help them bring that concept to the world". It ends up being "it's a great idea, how can I improve on it, so that when it's successful, I can make money off it". And so we fail to lift up the entrepreneur with the original idea. Humanity often ignores him completely, as I've found out. They even push him onto a path that he doesn't want to go, when he calls them out on their power grab, rather than respect him for the LEGEND he is. I could write a long list of businesses and organisations who have done this to me and tbh the journey: it's exhausting. @greataussiepubs began in 2017, with the years 2020 onward focused on mental health support, shit bedroom dances, great aussie pub jokes and suicide prevention ideas for pubs. Was planning on getting out on the road this year and even got 20,000 coasters made to fund the Australian journey. To help people. Furthermore I spent $8000 on an online program through @speakersinstitute to bring a vision to life and assist Aussie pubs in being among the greatest places on earth. But after seeing this image, never being approached by Government or other organisations to collaborate I've decided that enough is enough. It would almost be enough to send someone to drink. Good bye Australia, great knowing you.
